The race in Imola was canceled after the massive rainfall flooded the entire region. Even AlphaTauri home Faenza couldn’t escape the tragedy. However, on Thursday, when the entire paddock was going back, an insensitive comment by a Red Bull employee rattled the entire F1 community.
A Red Bull crew member by the name of rushtyles95 posted a story of a dry area of the circuit with the caption, “100% too wet,” the sarcasm was instantly sniffed by fans and many started to criticize him for his remark on something that has caused nine deaths so far.
Many fans even pointed out Red Bull for having employees who are constantly in controversies. The Instagram story instantly gave a plethora of reactions from fans, which is surely bringing a bad public image to Red Bull.
F1 fans react to Red Bull employee’s comment
Many fans were shocked by the absolute disregard for the events in Italy. A user named Stefanie went strong at Red Bull and said, “That whole team is just filled with terrible people.”
Meanwhile, a Lewis Hamilton fan was absolutely shocked by the Instagram screenshot that came across. The user named Gigi posted a meme of Hamilton and then wrote, “Well well well… you can always count on the member(s) of that team to shine in a negative way,”
On the other hand, a fan named Val even resorted to using a meme from the HBO show Succession and opined, “red bull racing pr team seeing another post by its employee blow up on Twitter.”
Safety comes first
The race in Imola getting was becoming apparent once the weather projections showed the situation there won’t get better. The nearby regions are still getting evacuated even if the track is getting dried up.
Therefore, f1 decided that it didn’t want to burden the local community by going on with the race. The decision by the commercial owners of the sport was raised by the drivers and fans. Many drivers even promoted relief funds open for the people affected by the flood.
Nevertheless, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will not be rescheduled for later this year. Instead, the track has received a prompt extension for 2024 as the race this year got canceled for unforeseen reasons.
