“Timing not right” Danish racer desired to replace Sebastian Vettel. But instead, Carlos Sainz got the coveted seat.
Kevin Magnussen is of the view that the timing did not favour him for the Ferrari seat next season. The current Haas driver, who has also raced for Renault and McLaren, wanted to replace Vettel at the Ferrari seat. But instead, he witnessed Carlos Sainz get the contract for the Italian outfit.
Speaking to Ekstra Bladet, he blamed it on bad timing: “I haven’t hidden that I would like that seat, It’s a lot to do with timing. Sainz had a really good year last year and broke through. Had it been after 2018, it could have been that I was more visible in the races.”
“Although I personally felt that I was having a good season, it’s difficult for others to see that. So it is clear that Ferrari is going with the safe choice,” he added.

Dream of becoming an F1 World Champion
This hasn’t deterred him from his dream of becoming a World Champion in F1 someday. “As long as I don’t feel like it’s impossible, I’ll keep going.”
If he manages to race for Ferrari in the future, there is every chance of the dream turning into reality. The Dane is expected to continue with the American Team Haas for the next season as well. But he is just focusing on the season ahead for now.
“Right now they’ve been insanely focused on just getting through this crisis,” he said of Haas. “There is no need to talk about the future yet. We haven’t even raced.
“The important thing is not who is going to drive the cars, first the cars just need to drive,”
