Sebastian Vettel spent six years with the Ferrari F1 team in an effort to win a world title but he failed to do so. Talking about his career in the Beyond The Grid podcast, Vettel revealed the emotional toll those years took on him.
The German driver won 4 back-to-back championship titles with the Red Bull F1 team between 2010 and 2013 before moving to Ferrari.
Vettel joined the Scuderia in 2015 and won the race on his second time out with the team. He further went on to finish the season at P3 in the drivers’ championship.
His effort to be at the front of the grid and claim his 5th title with the Ferrari continued in the years that came until Carlos Sainz replaced him in 2021.
The 4 -time world champion joined the Aston Martin F1 team to get back to the top but that didn’t play out according to the plans either.
Stepping out of F1 as he decided to end his career, Vettel does not regret anything that happened in the past and cherishes the memories he has of the sport.

Sebastian Vettel has no regrets
It’s no mystery that Vettel adores F1 legend Michael Schumacher who became the greatest of all time driving Ferrari in the early 2000s. Similar to his idol, Vettel wanted to bring the glory back to the Maranello squad but he failed to achieve that.
Nevertheless, he has no regrets about how things turned out. He said that Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes as a package were too strong and the Scuderia could not beat them. Vettel believes that the more time passes, the more he feels at peace with his stint at Ferrari.
Furthermore, recalling his time together with the team he revealed that living through the moment, he knows that they have done some very great things and he also knows that they have done things that were not as great.
But, he added that he learned a lot of things with the team as well. the German admitted that he would not go back and change anything.
Ferrari years took an emotional toll
Vettel had joined the Italian camp with high expectations from himself. He was chasing that title; going up against the dominating Mercedes and unstoppable Lewis Hamilton.
While he did bring some podiums and wins to the Ferrari garage, his ultimate target remained unachievable.
Vettel said on the podcast that those years took a toll on him. And it was mainly borne out of his own expectations of himself.
He said that there are multiple reasons why things might not have worked out with the Italian camp. Despite that, he is happy and at peace with what he achieved.
However, he admitted that looking back, it did take some time for him to recover.
