Uncertainty in Ferrari Future, $12,000,000 Salaried Carlos Sainz Flashes Warning He’ll “be Forced to Look Elsewhere”
The first half of the 2023 season is already over and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz still awaits clarity over his future. Similarly to his teammate Charles Leclerc, the Spaniard’s current deal also ends at the end of this season.
Since Ferrari have not provided much clarity about whether they are keen on extending Sainz’s contract or not, the 28-year-old has warned the team that he may need to look elsewhere if he does not receive an update soon. Since Sainz receives a whopping $12,000,000 per year with Ferrari, only very few teams would be able to match such an offer.
🇨🇦 Today was a positive race. We pushed and recovered after a challenging Qualifying. We did the right calls and we had a strong pace, especially on Mediums. We’re making progress in the right direction. We need to keep up the good work.

However, considering the value that Sainz brings to the team, it would also be very difficult for any team to replace him. Hence, the ball is now in Ferrari’s court to decide whether they are keen on extending their partnership with the Spaniard or not.
“I don’t want to lie…“: Carlos Sainz opens up on his Ferrari future
In a recent interview with motorsport.com, Carlos Sainz has made it clear to Ferrari that he is looking for an update about his future or else he would be forced to look elsewhere. “I don’t want to lie, I don’t like starting a season knowing it’s the last year of my contract. I want to know what awaits me in the long run,” explained Sainz.
The Spaniard then went on to seemingly threaten Ferrari by reminding them of the previous experience he has had with Red Bull and Renault. He then added that while his objective is to win with Ferrari, he is not ready to wait much longer about his future.
Sainz then concluded his remarks by adding, “This will be my winter priority. If it’s not possible, I’ll be forced to look elsewhere”. Sainz is likely desperate to know about his future with Ferrari as he wants to eliminate the uncertainty and have security about his future.
Did Ferrari delay the contract talks with Sainz because of discussions with Hamilton?
Over the past few weeks, there has not only been speculation about the future of Carlos Sainz but also about seven-time Drivers’ Champion Lewis Hamilton. Since Mercedes have failed to provide the Briton with a car that is capable of fighting for the world championship this season, surprising reports emerged that he was considering to move to Ferrari next year.

As a result of these rumors, many believe that the future of Sainz remained uncertain at Ferrari, with the Italian outfit attempting to prioritize a move for Hamilton over him. However, as the Briton edges closer to extending his contract with Mercedes, it seems that it is only a matter of time before Ferrari also follows suit with Sainz as there are rarely any other star racers currently available in the driver market.
