"Wash My Car": Lewis Hamilton Wants Mercedes Teammate George Russell to Take Up His Former Part-time Job Again

Lewis Hamilton recently joked about wanting to hire his Mercedes teammate George Russell as his car washer. The 38-year-old made this remark when the two teammates were appearing in a promotional video for their team.

Russell began the conversation by stating, “I used to wash cars when I was younger, but I do not have any part time jobs at the moment“. On hearing this Hamilton immediately replied, “You can wash my car“. Russell then played along the joke by adding, “You’d probably pay me well“.

The hilarious interaction between the two Mercedes teammates has been received well as the crowd present at the venue burst into laughter. Moreover, in less than a day, Mercedes F1’s post also  received over 204.8k views and 3,076 likes.

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell had a disappointing qualifying in Monaco

Both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have had a poor start to the Monaco Grand Prix weekend as they only managed to qualify sixth and eighth respectively. Both the Silver Arrows were way off the pace set by pole-sitter Max Verstappen as their lap time was over 0.35 seconds slower.

While Russell will start the race in eighth, where he qualified, Hamilton will be promoted to fifth because of a three-place penalty to Charles Leclerc. After a relatively subpar qualifying performance, both Mercedes drivers will now have a tough ask on Sunday during the main race because of how difficult it is to overtake at this venue.

Hamilton slammed the Mercedes 2023 car after his poor qualifying

After a difficult Monaco GP qualifying, Lewis Hamilton slammed the W14 by calling the car (as quoted by f1.com) as a “son of a gun“. He added that qualifying was so ‘tough‘ for him as he was ‘overdriving‘ all the time. The Briton stated that it was the same reason why he crashed into the barriers in FP3.

However, he did appreciate Mercedes’ upgrades for this weekend. When asked if he felt there was any improvements, Hamilton replied, “Definitely. Definitely an improvement. Next week I think we will get a better feel for the actual aero improvement, and we have some things in the pipeline moving forwards“.
