"Who wants to race when you already know"- Gene Haas complains about Mercedes dominance in F1

“Who wants to race when you already know”- Gene Haas criticizes the status quo in Formula 1, with Mercedes winning every other race.

At the start of this decade, nobody predicted that Mercedes would dominate Formula 1 for seven straight years. And, now, in 2021, Mercedes are ready to bag their eighth title.

Haas, which is only a five-year-old team in the sport, is tired of the dominance by dominance as claimed by the team owner Gene Haas, as he no more finds joy in F1 racing.

”We have no control over the parts we get from Ferrari. We are confident that Ferrari can solve this problem, and it’s not just Ferrari that has this problem.”

“Everyone is lagging behind the Mercedes engine. They have built a powerful engine that other teams can’t come close to”, Gene Haas told Racer.

”In my opinion, this has killed what Formula 1 is all about. More power to Mercedes to dominate the whole sport, but who wants to race when you already know who will win every race? That becomes boring”, the American clearly concludes.

Mercedes fear the end of an era.

Despite being the favourite for the eighth year, the Brackley-based team feels that this will be the last year of their dominance as the new regulations followed by the 2025 engine regulations.

Mercedes’ dominance also started when the new engine regulations were introduced, and they managed to have the upper hand against all when it came to the power unit.

Whereas the budget caps being introduced by FIA will limit Mercedes’ spending in comparison to the teams with budget constraints, hence providing a level field, which was not the case earlier.

Gene Haas is probably wrong when he accuses F1 of not doing anything, but the body has introduced a few rules to spice up the races.
