"Yeah the car feels good"- Fernando Alonso on Alpine 2021 car

“Yeah the car feels good”- Fernando Alonso guarantees pace in Alpine’s new 2021 car but refused to expect fast times with it.

Fernando Alonso entered back in Formula 1 on Saturday, with his participation commencing from the second day of the pre-season testing in Bahrain.

Soon, Alonso gave his judgement on the car, and according to him, it feels good, but at the same time, he refuses to guarantee fast times with it during the upcoming races.

“Yeah the car feels good,” the Spaniard replied when asked for his first impressions of Alpine’s car. “I think we still have to understand a little bit of the characteristics of the new aero package and the 2021 rules,” he added.

“So there’s still some work to do, but I think we are following the programme that we set two days ago, yesterday with Esteban [Ocon]; today with myself.”

“There’s still one more day where we need to tick some boxes. I’m happy with the number of laps and the information that we got today, but I think we still need to analyse everything.”

“Hopefully, tomorrow we start to fine-tune and optimise the package, so still some work to do,” he concluded.

Alpine in for the midfield battle

Alpine has entered the sport by rebranding its former self- Renault. Last season, it had decent pace and performances on the track. However, it still doesn’t view itself as the title challengers.

Alpine would be realistically aiming for the achievable P3 and P4 position, as they are also set to vie in the intense midfield battle, involving Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin and now Alpine.

It remains to be seen what lies ahead of Alonso in Bahrain, as he set to complete his pre-season testing on Sunday before leaving back for the first Grand Prix in Bahrain at the end of this month.
