Fan footage reveals how Liverpool fans left Raheem Sterling disconcerted during Man City’s loss at the Anfield in the Premier League last week.

To say that Raheem Sterling is hated by Liverpool fans would be an understatement. Fans are still hurt over his unceremonious exit to Manchester City in 2015. From conducting unauthorised interviews to demanding more money, he ticked all the wrong boxes before leaving the Anfield.

Liverpool’s growing rivalry with Manchester City has not helped his cause either. Liverpool fans have no hesitation showing him what they really feel about it. Hate was in the air at Anfield every time the ball found Sterling during City’s visit for their Premier League match.

The England international had a rather forgettable day despite looking dangerous on many occasions. Despite the 3-1 scoreline, the match was fought very closely. It only looked like a matter of time before Sterling would find the back of the net.

However, he couldn’t stop Liverpool from romping to a win. In the end, his frustration caused him and England teammate Joe Gomez to get into a spat; one he would carry into the next day and would ultimately leave him out of the England squad.

However, a fan footage showing how Liverpool fans abused their former players shows why Sterling was still raging 24 hours later; and even attempted to grab Gomez by the neck 24 hours after their match at the Anfield.

The reception was so hostile that even Sterling’s England teammate Danny Rose made mention of it.

“It’s probably the first time I have sat back and actually realised and took note of how much the Liverpool fans dislike him,” Rose told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I take that for granted whenever I’m watching Raheem. I think he just gets on with it and maybe it had a part to play in whatever happened.”
