Fans troll Ravi Ashwin for celebrating before victory: Tamil Nadu’s all-rounder was compared to veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman.

During the final match of the recently concluded season of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in Surat, Tamil Nadu all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin had nearly won the match for his team in the last over.

However, Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham not loosing his nerve while bowling an intriguing last over saw his team registering a 1-run victory to lift their second Mushtaq Ali Trophy title this year.

With Ashwin and fellow all-rounder Vijay Shankar in the middle, Tamil Nadu required 13 runs to win in the last over. While Ashwin smashed Gowtham down the ground on the first delivery to earn a boundary, Devdutt Paddikal’s mis-field at deep square leg fetched another boundary for Ashwin.

It was after the second boundary that an elated Ashwin started celebrating. The following deliveries witnessing a dot ball, single, a run-out and another single powered Karnataka to victory.

Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 18th over, Ashwin ended up scoring 16* (9) with the help of three fours. After Tamil Nadu captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and chose to field, Ashwin dismissed Lokesh Rahul (22) and Mayank Agarwal (0) on consecutive deliveries after being made to open the bowling for Tamil Nadu.
