Fernando Alonso has moved on from Formula 1 for the time being as his McLaren stint didn’t quite go through as expected. Alonso and McLaren suffered a few painful seasons together, marred by engine performance and reliability issues.
Alonso’s final race was one that ended with a bang, with the Spaniard treating himself and the fans to an extensive ‘donuts’ session. Hamilton and Vettel too joined in wanting to give Alonso the perfect send off with a brilliant tribute on the main straight at Yas Marina.
Now, in the final few laps of the Abu Dhabi GP, Alonso decided to have some fun of his own, cutting the chicane on multiple occasions.
The Formula 1 twitter account decided to poke some fun at Alonso for the same yesterday, posting a video of him cutting the chicane in Abu Dhabi and captioning it as ‘Last day in the office mood’.
Alonso then posted an image from the French GP this year where almost 5 cars were guilty of cutting the chicane, with Alonso obediently abiding by the rules.
Final day in the office? One little shortcut won’t hurt 😉#F1 #FridayFeeling @alo_oficial pic.twitter.com/Pk0NJLNF3d

Twitter tried to weigh on in this cheeky response from Alonso by having some fun of their own with even cheekier comments.

OMG where is your twit about this..? Only 5 cars in the “office mood”
Yes, but don’t worry, Fernando is into the track limits.

But it would’ve been okay if his car was silver and sponsored by Petronas, right?

Alonso has left F1 to pursue his motorsport passions elsewhere and we’ll have to wait and see how the future looks for the Spaniard.
If he decides to return to F1 one day, a move that he hasn’t really ruled out, it would be one of the most romantic stories of our sport.
