Fernando Alonso has had a mixed start to his 2018 F1 season, as McLaren have taken well to the new Renault engine but they are still way off the top 3 teams.

Alonso has endured a pained time with McLaren ever since 2015 but a lot of those issues were identified to be Honda engine related problems. A shift from Honda to Renault was supposed to take care of reliability and help McLaren unleash its true pace on the race track.

However, that hasn’t quite transpired on the race track this year. But credit to McLaren for having adapted to the Renault engine quickly and giving Alonso the opportunity to compete hard during races.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol has reported that Alonso is looking for a new challenge now, after having spent almost 4 years with McLaren.

If the reports in the Diario Gol are to believed, Alonso is all set to replace Romain Grosjean at Haas in 2019.

Alonso is in the final year of his contract at McLaren.

Haas would be a little frustrated by Grosjean’s start to the 2018 season, as he has had to retire from 3 of the first 5 races.

His latest mistake at the Spanish GP not only costed him the race but also Hulkenberg and Gasly, as the duo did not really know what to do when they witnessed the Grosjean induced smokescreen in front of them.

While a move from McLaren to Haas won’t be an upgrade as such for Alonso, but it could maybe help him to start afresh and enjoy a new challenge on the F1 circuit.
