Frank Lampard denies interest in Manchester United academy prospect amidst his departure from Carrington

Frank Lampard denies interest in Manchester United academy prospect Angel Gomes amidst his departure from Carrington this summer.

Angel Gomes failed to extend his stay with Manchester United, as the financial disagreement with the club led to his release from the Old Trafford.

Shortly after the confirmation of his departure from the club was released. He was allegedly linked with Chelsea, but Frank Lampard has cleared the air with his statement.

The Chelsea manager has clarified that he is planning to bring Gomes to London, quizzed on the reports suggesting an offer has been tabled, the Blues boss said: “I can elaborate to the point that it’s never been mentioned at my end, so that’s it.”

Gomes is one of the highly-rated prospects from Manchester United and has shown immense potential during his time with the Red Devils, however, the Blues are not interested in landing him at the club.

Meanwhile, Lampard also talked about Chelsea’s reported interests in Declan Rice, but he slid the topic under the table by saying that there are no talks about him as of now.

“Declan Rice is a good player you’re right, and I’ve known him for a long time, he was in the Chelsea academy,” added the Chelsea manager.

“But there’s no talk, I keep saying, about every player we’ll be asked about. Until these games and this season is finished, there’s nothing to say.”

Chelsea is already about to welcome two players in their squad ahead of the new season- Tio Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Presently, Chelsea needs further reinforcements in defense and reportedly trying to lure its targets.

Earlier reports also mentioned that Lampard might deploy Rice in defense if the deal with West Ham is somehow completed.
