Frank Lampard to Chelsea: Blues have to pay £4 million to hire the services of Lampard from Derby as he is set to return at the Stamford bridge.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is set to return at the Premier league but as a manager as his former club is set to hire him from the Derby after his successful campaign with the Championship side.
However, in recent advancements, according to a report by the BBC, Chelsea will have to pay £4 million to Derby in compensation, if they acquire the former English International.
With the current manager Maurizio Sarri set to join Juventus by replacing Massimiliano Allegri, the spot at Chelsea dugout becomes vacant. It was earlier reported that Sarri is expected to leave Chelsea at the end of season.
The Chelsea hierarchy and the Italian manager did not go well along, despite him providing a third place finish in the league and Europa league medal by defeating city rivals Arsenal.
Thus, Frank Lampard was under the radar of Chelsea since a significant period of time, as he gained managerial stardom after his stint with Derby in the Championship.
Derby have a good relationship with Chelsea, who loaned them Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori last season, and anticipate if negotiations do take place, they will be done so in a relaxed atmosphere.
However, there is a compensation clause built in Lampard’s contract with Derby, in which two years are still remaining. Hence, it is mandatory for Chelsea to pay this amount.
However, some are doubting Lampard’s appointment with Chelsea, as many consider that he still needs more experience in management before making a big move to a club like Chelsea.
