Ahead of the Diablo 4 Server Slam, Blizzard has outlined its planned “post-launch experiences” for the game. One of the more detailed elements was the battle pass that they crafted for the title. Split into free and premium tiers, the latter will set users back around 1,000 Platinum, which is equal to around $9.99. As per the developers, Season 1 will begin in mid to late July and to partake in it, players must first complete the Campaign.
Diablo 4 to have free and premium Battle Pass options
Here’s a breakdown of the Battle Pass and how it functions.
- Free Battle Pass: Comprises 27 tiers
- Premium Battle Pass: Costs 1000 platinum (or $9.99), has 63 tiers, and awards both Platinum and Cosmetics
- Accelerated Battle Pass: Includes all perks of the Premium Battle Pass, 20 Tier Skips, a special Cosmetic, and will cost 2,800 Platinum ($24.99 USD)
Season Journey
The new Season Journey will contain details and objectives for players to complete, earning them Seasonal rewards, such as Crafting Materials and Legendary Aspects for their Codex of Power. Additionally, each objective earns Favor, the resource used to level up through the Tiers of the Battle Pass.
Season Blessings
These seasonal items can provide a bonus to earning XP, Gold, or Obols depending on which Blessings players spend the currency ‘Smoldering Ashes.’ This currency can be collected via the Free Tiers of the battle pass. Since these blessings affect gameplay, the developers have stated that players “must meet certain Character Level requirements to claim the Smoldering Ashes needed to apply Blessings.”
The Shop
Much like other games, Diablo 4 allows players to customize almost every visual element including transmogs, weapons, and pieces of armor. Players can head to The Shop to buy the cosmetics they desire. These additions are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay. Each set of cosmetics in The Shop must be bought with Platinum and will be there for a limited time. Skin and items will rotate on a consistent basis.
