Resident Evil 4 shoot the lake guide trolls newcomers

Released this month, the Resident Evil 4 Remake is being showered with praise. Lauded for its attention to detail and faithful recreation of the original, the RE4 Remake has a ton of content for new and returning fans. Recently, players discovered that the bell trick from the original game has been retained, allowing players to skip the village fight.

However, not all guides like these are helpful and veterans are trolling new players by telling them to shoot the lake. Here’s what happens if they do.

Resident Evil 4 veterans get newcomers killed with “Shoot the lake” reviews

Shooting the lake in the Remake is a bad idea, as any fan of the original will tell you that it spawns the Del Lago boss. By promising new players loot and exclusive cosmetics, veterans are dropping reviews, suggesting players shoot the lake.

Once players do this, the Del Lago boss will spawn and insta-kill players. While this does net the “Do Not Shoot the Water!” achievement, unsuspecting players are having their runs ended by the joke. Many users on Steam are getting a laugh out of the ordeal while others are left frustrated after taking the bait.

Those looking to stay alive should avoid shooting the lake and ignoring the bait, as there are no rewards to be gained.

RE4 players “rediscover” village fight skip

A few days ago, Reddit user u/Tactical_Banter discovered that shooting the church bell at the edge of the map, skips the village fight. This is an homage to the original, where players could do the same thing to make their lives easier. Doing this diverts the villagers to the church, allowing Leon to progress unimpeded.

As such, many new easter eggs and references have been found in the game. As players continue their runs on “Professional” difficulty, a bunch of new easter eggs are bound to be discovered.
