Gareth Bale might be set to leave Real Madrid after the comeback of Zinedine Zidane has been reported by almost all major media houses.

“Of course it could be a ‘see you later’… Madrid has given me everything, and I’ll be around, near this club…”

This is what Zinedine Zidane said in June 2018, as he announced his resignation as the manager of Real Madrid.

The time for a return has finally come for the celebrated French former footballer and manager.

Zinedine Zidane is set to make a sensational comeback to Real Madrid, merely 10 months after his resignation announcement. The return comes after the Los Blancos underwent one of their worst seasons in recent history.

The side has been knocked out of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League within the last two weeks, and remains 12 points behind arch-rivals and league leaders FC Barcelona.

As Zidane’s arrival reignites hopes for Real Madrid’s fans, it might also mean an end of the road for a club star.

Gareth Bale to leave Real Madrid?

It has been reported by the Spanish Football Podcast (Sid Lowe) that Gareth Bale ‘will leave’ Real Madrid this summer.

The relationship between Bale and Zidane deteriorated significantly in the Frenchman’s final season at the club.

After the Champions League final, Gareth Bale voiced his frustration over lack of playing time and also hinted at his departure in the post-match interview, which caused a controversy at the time.

However, Zidane shockingly announced his resignation merely days after the European triumph, and Bale stayed.

The situation with Gareth Bale didn’t improve even with two managerial changes at the club this season. Under Santiago Solari, Bale was largely confined to substitute appearances.

According to the Spanish Football Podcast, Bale and Zidane’s relationship was “non-existent” in the French manager’s final season at the club.
