Georginio Wijnaldum reveals why he was angry with Jurgen Klopp before Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Barcelona and how he countered it
Georginio Wijnaldum played a massive role in Liverpool’s historic comeback win over Barcelona. The Liverpool midfielder was brought on as a substitute after Robertson sustained an injury during half time.
The midfielder then scored two goals in as many minutes to help Liverpool get back on level terms with Barcelona. After the game, Wijnaldum spoke to the media about how he was angry with Jurgen Klopp over not being in the starting line up.
Wijnaldum had a lot of pent up anger in him and wanted to show the manager and the world that he could do it on possibly the biggest stage ever.
“I was really angry the manager put me on the bench,” Wijnaldum said.
“I had to show them. People from outside didn’t believe it could happen. We believed.” he added.
Jurgen Klopp would be happy with how Wijnaldum played after coming on , settling into the game beautifully and then stepping up just when needed to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League.
The Liverpool manager too was ecstatic after the win, going on a little NSFW rant to shower praise on his boys.
