Granit Xhaka refuses to apologise, Instagram update irks fans. The recent episode over the spat with fans seems far from over.
Despite Granit Xhaka leading Arsenal in all the games he’s played so far, the fans came hard at both Unai Emery and the midfielder after he was named the permanent captain of the club. The supporters have been very vocal with their displeasure at the appointment.

The criticism over his leadership took new heights when the Emirates stadium cheered his substitution and booed him as he walked off the pitch. Xhaka then did the unthinkable when he appeared to have shouted ‘fu*k off!’ to the fans.
Despite the criticism for his actions and the Arsenal boss Unai Emery publicly claiming that Xhaka should apologise, The Sun have reported that the Swiss midfielder has not intentions of doing so. Instead, he has the full support of the playing staff.

Xhaka’s teammates believe that the treatment meted to their captain by Arsenal’s fickle supporters was unwarranted and Emery fears that if Xhaka is stripped off the captaincy, he will face a backlash from the rest of the squad.
Emery has attempted to convince Xhaka to apologise. However, nothing has come off it so far. Instead, the captains Instagram activity has left the fans even more displeased with the Swiss international.
Granit Xhaka changed his profile picture on Instagram, deleting the photo of him in an Arsenal shirt and replacing it with one of him in his national side’s strip.

It is easy to see why he did what he did. Enduring a difficult period with your home fans booing you can be very tough. However, this will not help his cause with the supporters. How he intends to remain captain after this is a mystery.
Unai Emery is a bigger tragedy in this whole mess. Should he replace Xhaka as club captain, he will lose the support of his players. However, if he continues to play the midfielder in his team, then the calls for his sacking will grow even louder.
