Antoine Griezmann on Barcelona: The Atletico Madrid forward spoke about rejecting Barcelona in a recent interview with AS.
Antoine Griezmann made headlines throughout the summer transfer window for his controversial two-part documentary. He released the documentary to determine whether he will stay at Atletico Madrid or join Barcelona. In the end, he decided to stay.
Last week, the Frenchman gave an interview to Spanish outlet AS where he put off the curtains over his controversial transfer saga. In the interview, he discussed his thoughts on the negative reactions to his documentary, and his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid.
“I knew there would be good and bad comments [on the documentary] because it was something new.But it’s something I wanted to teach and show that it was not as easy as choosing a chewing gum: I want this one or this one.
“It is not like this. It was very important, it is a decision for your future. You do not only look at one year, you do it thinking about four or five, you value your future, which is something very important,” Griezmann said.
The French forward also addressed the question on rejecting Barcelona.
“That [rejecting Barca] also gives greatness to the club [Atletico Madrid], to Cholo, to my teammates … If they are bad, I’m leaving. But I have confidence in Cholo, in the club and in all my teammates.I want to help them grow and I trust them to make me grow. We gave each other a lot and everything is very positive so that this goes higher.”

Griezmann insisted that his decision had nothing to do with money, and he would’ve opted a move to China if he wanted more money.
Atletico Madrid endured a struggling start to the new La Liga season, as they currently sit on 8th place in the league with only one win in four matches.
