Hardik Pandya injury: Indian all-rounder walks off the field during semi-final vs New Zealand

Hardik Pandya injury: Indian all-rounder was seen walking off the field after completing his fourth over against New Zealand.

During the first semi-final of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between India and New Zealand at Old Trafford, India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was seen walking off the field after getting injured.

With India playing only five bowling options, it will become a significant problem for captain Virat Kohli if Pandya fails to return on the field. It is believed that Pandya has issues in his right groin problem.

While the extent of the injury is still unknown, reports in ESPNcricinfo suggest that Pandya was struggling to even climb up the stairs. Introduced as the first-change bowler in the 10th over, Pandya bowled four overs on the trot before succumbing to the injury.

After New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to field, the Indian bowlers made early inroads into the opposition’s batting lineup. It was Jasprit Bumrah who dismissed Martin Guptill (1) in the fourth over to push the Kiwis on the back foot.

Coming into the all-important match, New Zealand included Lockie Ferguson ahead of Tim Southee. On the other hand, India brought in Yuzvendra Chahal in place of Kuldeep Yadav. Benching Mohammed Shami for the second time in a row came as a debatable decision on the part of the Indian team.
