Nzonzi has been long linked with a move to the Emirates this summer.
Steven Nzonzi has been in the midst of transfer speculation since the transfer window opened. Arsenal were among the front-runners to sign the French star, and yesterday, many reports also claimed that Barcelona have entered the race to sign him.
Nzonzi, meanwhile, is celebrating with team France, who won the World Cup last week. However, his former teammate Benni McCarthy, who played alongside him at Blackburn Rovers, might have just confirmed his next club.
On Instagram, Nzonzi posted a picture of him with the World Cup trophy. While McCarthy congratulated him, he also wished him luck for his ‘Premier League’ return.
“Easyboy @iamnzonzi15 Congratulations my friend. You deserve to be amongst the world best, I’m proud of you my brother. Back to the Premier League now my friend and finish them wit your skills. Benni”, wrote McCarthy.
Arsenal are planning a 35m bid for Steven Nzonzi, but it now looks like the deal is done and the French star could well be on his way for a Premier League return.
Steven Nzonzi has previously played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, before joining Spanish club Sevilla in 2015.
Meanwhile, the French midfielder could be Arsenal’s sixth summer signing under their new head coach Unai Emery. The Gunners have been quite active in the transfer window, with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi joining the club.
Guendouzi was among those making appearance for Arsenal in their first pre-season match against Boreham.
