Real Madrid and Chelsea will be locking heads later in the Champions League
They were given jitters aplenty by Liverpool on Wednesday night but at the end of the day, Real Madrid’s will valour and grit persevered. The resilience shown by the side at Anfield ensured the team was able to walk away with a 0-0 draw from England and with it a spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The club setup a forthcoming clash with Chelsea. Its one which makes for an intoxicating brew not only owing to the stature of these clubs but also given the slew of players to have plied their skill set for both the side.
While the most eagerly anticipated reunion is of Eden Hazard and Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois returning to his old club will hold mammoth importance as well. Its down to the circumstances which engulfed Courtois’ departure from Chelsea, one which left an unsavoury taste in the mouth of Chelsea supporters.
Courtois who had refused to turn up for training in a bid to enforce a move to Real Madrid has since been slandered and smeared by Chelsea supporters. And although there will be no supporters where Courtois returns to Stamford Bridge later next month, Chelsea supporters are bound to spare no expense in making their ire felt towards the shot stopper.
Courtois Unfazed On Stamford Bridge Return
However, Courtois refused to badmouth his time at Chelsea. Speaking on the proposition of returning to Stamford Bridge, the goal-keeper talked about the two Premier League trophies he had won with the side.
“It will be very nice to see a lot of familiar faces and I wish there was public at Stamford Bridge because there was a lot of happy moments I had there,” the Real Madrid man said while speaking to beIN Sports.
“Even though maybe my departure wasn’t in the best way, or it was put that way, that it wasn’t the best way, I only have good memories. Two Premier Leagues, a lot of other trophies – I’m really happy to play them, but only one can be in the final and I hope it’s Real Madrid.”
