Man Utd vs Southampton Lineup: Predicted lineups for the match between The Red Devils and The Saints in the Premier League this weekend.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his boys will travel to the St. Mary’s stadium this weekend to take on Southampton in the Premier League. Both teams have had mixed results so far and will hope to bring their campaign back on track this Saturday.
Southampton lost their first two matches against Burnley and Liverpool before winning their first Premier league match of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend. With their account open, they will now want to continue the momentum.
Manchester United on the other hand, found their first defeat of the season last weekend and will want to quickly put it behind them. However, they will travel with two injuries and will hope to script a victory in the absence of first team players, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw.
Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand will miss the match owing to his ankle problem. Which means Ralph Hasenhuttl will most likely play the same team that won against Brighton in the same 4-2-2-2 formation. United will not have it as easy though. Apart from injuries, Solskjaer will also have to deal with Lingard who is in abysmal form.
Should United choose to leave out Lingard from their lineup, they could bring Juan Mata as his replacement. Or perhaps even abandon the no.10 position at all and change the formation to 4-3-3 with Nemanja Matic playing as the holding midfielder. However, it is unlikely that Solskjaer would make such a drastic change and will most likely start Lingard once again.
Highly rated Mason Greenwood will most likely replace Anthony Martial in the team. Greenwood is capable of cutting it from the left as well as playing in the middle. However, Rashford’s brilliance at the left means Greenwood may play in the middle with either of Marcus Rojo or Ashley Young deputizing for Shaw. With Young starting in the last game, he may get the nod ahead of Rojo.
