Liverpool are said to be wrapping up a deal for the defender

Ever since Monday, the football fraternity has been taken over with news of Liverpool in the final stages of completing a deal for RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate. A slew of outlets and journalists from across the global stage have spoken about the move, one which is said to be all but done as things stand.

Liverpool are said to be working towards closing out a 34 million pound deal for Konate with the club set to activate his release clause. The CB’s expansive talent, height, speed and acumen of the game are said to have left Klopp besotted to see Liverpool move quickly to seal the player’s signature.

Markus Shuts Down Transfer Talk

However, RB Leipzig’s head honcho, Markus Krosche was having none of those reports. Speaking out his CB, Markus was quick to rule out any such news as he asserted that Konate would be staying with the club next season as well.

“I think that this is not an option for Ibu,” Krosche said of Konate.

“He has a long contract with us and he knows what we mean to him and what he means to us.

“He was unlucky last year as he had a long-term injury but this year he is developing well and he is an extremely important player that has a lot of potential.

“We want to help him to develop further, and we play in Europe and have a very good team, so I don’t see a reason for him to leave us.’”

While it remains to be seen if Krosche’s words hold any weightage, RB Leipzig will be rendered redundant if Liverpool activate Konate’s release clause and convince him on a transfer. The Bundesliga club is poised to try hard to hold onto his CB after having previously have sanctioned Dayot Upamecano’s transfer to Bayern Munich next season.
