Icardi and Modric could be involved in a swap deal

Real Madrid and Inter Milan are reportedly involved in a swap deal which will see Mauro Icardi move to the Los Blancos and Luka Modric move to San Siro in the summer transfer window.

There has been goal drought for Santiago Solari’s side who have found the back of the net only 26 times in 20 games this season. It has become an increasingly unsettling atmosphere among the supporters who are gutted to see their team perform poorly every single week.

The Argentine International Mauro Icardi is one of the best strikers in the world right now having proved himself with the Nerazzurri over the last five years since his departure from Sampdoria. He is valued at 110 million Euros by the Inter Milan board.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Croatian has not given up on joining Inter Milan after a move fell through last summer when Florentino Perez decided to rebuff the offer from the Italian outfit.

Apparently, Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent is asking Inter for €9m per season, and for the €110m release clause to be raised, for the Inter striker to sign a new contract.

There were several reports that the Argentine has not agreed to a contract extension which runs until 2022. It is understood that the striker is wanting an amount of around 9 million euros, whereas, the Nerrazzuri are proving him with 6 million Euros.

This contract rejection has put Real Madrid in alert as they seek to enforce their forward department in the summer transfer window which is a part of the squad overhaul.

‘Luka Modric has been one of the best players in Real Madrid colours over the last five to six years. Losing him will hurt them, Perez has to think from the financial point of view as his contract runs down in 2020. He would be able to recoup at least 50 million in the forthcoming summer.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is seen as the ideal replacement for the Croatia who looks nothing but certain to head the exit door in the summer transfer window. It is believed that the Danish International would cost 100 million Euros to lure him away from London.

Christian Eriksen is set to reject Tottenham’s offer of a contract renewal and is a Real Madrid transfer target. Real view the playmaker as a long-term successor to Luka Modric at the Bernabeu.

It is no surprise that both the sides will be getting world class players, but the Los Blancos will be able to buy someone who has age in his side. On the other hand, Luka Modric is in twilight point of his career, but there is no denying that he is still the best midfielder for Real Madrid.
