ICC posts warning regarding MS Dhoni's wicket-keeping

ICC posts warning regarding MS Dhoni’s wicket-keeping: ICC’s tweet on the Indian wicket-keeper has taken the internet by storm.

There is no hiding away from former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, especially when he is performing his duties behind the stumps. Given his prowess with the keeping gloves on, Dhoni has thrown off balance even the best in the business.

When it comes to keeping against spinners, the 37-year old wicket-keeper taken the game to the next level. Yes, even at 37, Dhoni hasn’t let his keeping get affected. On the contrary, with the additional element of wisdom, the veteran cricketer has become all the more dangerous behind the wicket.

With 811 dismissals (621 catches and 190 stumping dismissals) to his name, Dhoni is currently the third-ranked wicket-keeper on the list of most dismissals across formats. With 998 dismissals (952 catches and 46 stumping dismissals) under his belt, former South Africa wicket-keeper batsman Mark Boucher tops the list.

Despite a 187-dismissal difference between the two, Dhoni comfortably surpasses Boucher when it comes to most stumping dismissals across formats. The numbers speak highly about how dominating the Indian cricketer can be behind the wickets.

It is also worth mentioning that Dhoni (591) needs to play six more international matches to go past Boucher (596) as the most capped wicket-keeper batsman ever.

Furthermore, Dhoni’s keeping isn’t just limited to him standing behind the stumps. There have been numerous incidents of where he has called dismissals before they have happened. Talk to any contemporary Indian spinner and you will unequivocally hear him crediting much of his success to Dhoni’s suggestions from behind the batsman.

Realizing the impact which Dhoni has had and continues to have on the game from his role as a wicket-keeper, the official Twitter account of ICC (International Cricket Council) posted a warning regarding not leaving the crease when Dhoni is behind the stumps. Read it below:
