Iker Casillas: Former Real Madrid legend set to retire from football as the Spanish goalkeeper suffered from a heart-attack in the training session.
According to various reports, Iker Casillas is hanging his boots after suffering from a heart-attack few days ago.
The former Spanish International was deemed to not continue his career as his health could have propelled him to leave his playing career.
Therefore, it is being reported that Iker Casillas has decided to retire after considering it for long period of time, while being treated in the hospital.
On the other hand, the news of Iker Casillas suffering from heart-attack shocked the sporting fraternity. Several messages in the form of tribute and good-health were poured.
Additionally, one such message was also given by his former rival and national teammate-Victor Valdes, who recommended the player to end his career.
It is further reported that Casillas was discharged from the hospital just after the five days of the incident.
Whilst leaving Porto hospital, Casillas told reporters: ‘I don’t know what my future holds but the most important thing is being here today. I’m feeling a lot better, I’ll be resting for a couple of weeks or even a couple of months.’
The 37-year-old goalkeeper still have 2 years left in his contract, but it seems that he will soon terminate the contract with Porto.
Casillas was regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever grace the game. He was crucial in Spain’s World Cup victory in 2010 and European domination.
Moreover, his tremendous contribution to Real Madrid with 725 appearances is unforgettable and remarkable.
