According to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narendra Batra, the first step towards the unprecedented glory moment has to come in the upcoming 2020 Olympics which will be hosted by Tokyo (Japan). India will have to target a ‘double figure’ medal tally overall in the Tokyo Olympics and the following two Olympics as well to stake their claim on the organization part.
“If we have to bid for the 2032 Olympics, the target should be 25 medals in 2024 and 35-40 by 2028. Otherwise, they won’t even allow you to bid. You have to make sure the performance is such,” The Hindu quoted IOA president Narinder Batra saying on Saturday.

Mumbai, Delhi to be the likely choices
With the following two Olympics hosts already decided- Paris for 2024 and Los Angeles for 2028, the bidding process for the 2032 Olympics will commence in the year 2025, as per Batra. If India do manage to clear the aforementioned hurdles, Mumbai and Delhi are likely to be the top two cities as the Hosts.
“Mumbai and Delhi are likely choices. Then there is Bhubaneswar, which we are right now calling the sports capital of India,” he informed. “We are allowed three cities, so it can be anywhere. The only condition is that it has to have an international airport,” he added.
Batra further said that India is also looking forward to host the 2026 Youth Olympic game and the IOC Congress in 2021.
“We have also expressed our interest to host the 2030 Asian Games so that the infrastructure will be ready early and it will just be a two-year gap to the Olympics,” he added.
