India may host El Clasico in January after in bid to host next Supercopa De Espana
India vies for the hosting rights of the new edition of Supercopa De Espana, as revamped version of the tournament is scheduled in January.
The RFEF decided to take the Supercopa De Espana abroad, with a revised format, confirmed on last February. The new tournament will have four teams, who will now be eligible to play in the Cup competition.
The tournament will feature both finalists from the 2018-19 Copa del Rey and the remaining highest-ranked teams from the 2018-19 La Liga season, that had not already qualified through the cup final.
According to a report by Marca, as per Khel Now, India is planning to grab the hosting rights of the Spanish tournament, as it is set to be hosted outside Spain once again, since the earlier edition was hosted by Morocco during last season.
The report further suggests that along with India, countries like Saudi Arabia and USA are the front-runners to win the bidding to host the prestigious competition.

India has already managed to host several big football competitions, like the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017, In the year 2018, Kerala Blasters staged a pre-season tournament involving Girona FC of Spain along with Melbourne City FC from Australia.
Next year, the country is also set to to host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, but it would be for the first time that any official European club competition will be hosted with the likes of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Eden Hazard participating in the tournament.
With the rise of football in India, a new market for the European clubs are also being created. Thus, with the Spanish cup competition being hosted in India, the popularity of football in India can see another boom.
This edition of the tournament will be hosted in coming January, and the entrants of the cup will be Valencia- who won the Copa De Rey, Barcelona (Copa Del Rey finalists), Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid (remaining two high ranked teams in the league).
