Indian Cricket Team News: Ravi Shastri explains MS Dhoni’s role for 2019 World Cup | Indian coach was vocal about India’s former captain.

Addressing the media before leaving for England to take part in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, India Head Coach Ravi Shastri opened up on the relationship between India captain Virat Kohli and former captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

“His [Dhoni] relation with Kohli is great, he has shown that he is still the best in this format of the game. What was good to see in the IPL was the way he was moving and hitting the ball,” Shastri was quoted as saying.

Virat Kohli expects Indian team to “play good cricket”

Accompanying Shastri in the presser, India captain Virat Kohli didn’t hesitate from saying that the looming tournament will be the most challenging for him. “This will be the most challenging World Cup out of the three I have been part of because of the format. It’s a different challenge and one that every team will have to adapt to,” Kohli said.

Kohli further mentioned “playing good cricket” on being asked about expectations from his players. Highlighting Indian players’ great form in the IPL, the skipper oozed confidence before leaving for England.

“The only expectation we have is to play good cricket. We go into the World Cup feeling very balanced and confident. All our players have been in great form in the IPL. Handling pressure is the most important thing in the World Cup and not necessarily the conditions. All our bowlers are fresh, no one looks fatigued,” Kohli added.
