TheSportsRush brings India’s results at Asian Games 2018 on Day 7.
India enjoyed a terrific day in the Athletics event, as Tajinderpal Singh Toor made an Asian Games record with an attempt of 20.75, clinching the gold medal. Toor also created a national record with this attempt.
Hima Das also made a national record in the women’s 400m race, as she and Nirmala Sheoran, both qualified for the finals. Muhammad Anas stood first in the Heat in Men’s 400m and qualified for the final race, alongside Rajiv Arokia. Dutee Chand also made her way into the semifinal of women’s 100m event.
PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal also cruised into the quarterfinals of women’s singles, however India faced disappointment in other major events at the Asian Games on day 8.
India’s run in the individual event in squash came to an end as Sourav Ghosal, Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa lost their semifinals. All the three have settled for a bronze medal.
Indian women’s hockey team also won their group game against Korea 4-1, and have all but sealed their place in the semifinals.
