Over the years the IPL has given the cricket hungry Indian audience with so much to cheer for. It has helped the average Indian to forge a strong bond with his city and also to get an assured getaway from all the upheavals in an Indian society. For the working class, it has become a topic of discussion in office premises, for students it has become another source of banter and for the aspiring athlete it is a chance to witness the best in the world from close quarters.

And with less than one month to go for the start of the tenth edition, the organisers have come up with a new anthem called ’10 saal aapke naam’ which attributes the success of the IPL to the cricket fans in India. Composed by Salim-Suleiman and sung by Benny Dayal, this song is sure to catch on brilliantly with the cricketing fraternity in the country.

Salim and Suleiman wanted to capture the idea of the IPL being a ‘celebration’ in the country and they have done that brilliantly with this anthem. The video captures people from all walks of life and how the IPL has become an household affair in India.

“IPL is such an amazing occasion of celebration in the country and I felt like whatever we composed whether it is ‘10 saal’ or it is some other concept, the feeling of celebration is very important,” said Salim Merchant.

The music, the lyrics and the video have come together beautifully to set the right mood for the 45 day extravaganza.

Benny Dayal says that he was always confident that this anthem would catch the imagination of the country and he is delighted that it has turned out this way

“He is always very critical about his song. This song makes people emotional and at the same time this is a very strong anthem for people to sing it. The recall value of the song is very high.”
