IPL 2017 Fantasy Tips: Fantasy Guide for DD vs RCB

Expectations are an integral part of sport. They feed you, they feed on you. They never leave your side, be it a player or a fan, and you need to find ways of coping with it or else they start suffocating you.

RCB have fallen prey to the burden of expectations, so much so that despite having three of the best players in the T20 format, they have fallen way short of that playoff spot.

DD on the other hand can attribute their failure to not finding the right combination and batting order in the initial stages of the tournament. Morris and Pant, two of their most explosive batsmen were kept waiting in the hut for too long, a ploy that seemed baffling to say the least. The latter part of their campaign though was dominated by refreshing performances from the Indian domestic players. something that just transcends and overpower the need to look at ‘results’.

The match up is a drab one, but the players involved do have a point to prove. The ones that will be involved in the Champions Trophy want to get back to their respective International sides with a good last game under their belt. The ones who are vying for a national team spot would embrace this last gasp opportunity to showcase their talent at a global level, and for the Delhi fans it would mean welcoming back their golden boy, Virat Kohli.

Both teams could string in a few changes and give their bench a little bit game time as anyway the result would have no bearing on the final IPL table.

Let’s get to business now!

Now, I already have Rishab Pant in my side for this game!

Pant has shown so much promise this year. During every innings of his, he just bamboozles you with the amount of power he possesses. The season has been a bit of a hit and miss for him, as he has been amongst the runs, but then has been dismissed for 3 ducks as well. He would be itching to entertain his home crowd, one last time.

The first transfer that I make for this game is getting Virat Kohli in. Kohli hasn’t been in the best of forms this season, but a home game to end a distraught campaign could be all he needs. With the Champions Trophy just round the corner, Kohli would be hoping for a solid batting performance in front of his home crowd. And on a pitch that has been as flat as a road this season, you can expect Kohli to fire big time.

With no other transfers left, I can’t be bringing in any other player for this game.

For the uncapped player, I would be bringing in Shreyas Iyer, who could take full toll of this meek RCB bowling attack. Shahbaz Nadeem and Aniket Chaudhary are other choices but on a flat deck I would prefer to go with a batsman.

Captain: Virat Kohli

Now, I already have Rishab Pant in my side for this game.

The first player that I’ll be brining in is Virat Kohli. Playing at his home ground and wounded by his performances this season, Virat Kohli would be itching to end the tournament on a high, and get some runs under his belt before stepping onto the field as captain of the country in his first ICC Tournament. Get him in, you wouldn’t want to get on the bad side of determined Virat Kohli.

Sanju Samson’s form and RCB’s depleted bowling attack are enough to warrant him a place in my side. You can’t really rule out an opener on a flat deck, can you?

Mohammad Shami has been chipping away with wickets all through, and with Rabada and Morris back to South Africa for national duty, he has been given the reigns to take care of the death overs. Get him in, he could fetch you at least 70 points today.

Travis Head could be your trump card for the day. He scored 140 points against KKR and his strong six hitting ability could come in handy at the small Feroz Shah Kotla. That and the fact that not many people would opt for him make him an irresistible pick for this game.

For my last pick of this game I would be going with either Yuzi Chahal or Kedar Jadhav. If RCB bowl first go with Yuzi, else go with Jadhav. Dew could come into being in the second innings, hence making it difficult for Chahal to control the ball. Jadhav would be of more use in the first innings than in the second, as he might have either too much or too little to do.

Batting Star: Virat Kohli

Bowling Star: Mohammad Shami
