What should MI do to beat CSK

What should MI do to beat CSK: The Sportsrush present before you three ways which should aid MI in defeating CSK in IPL 2019 final.

Both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings stand a chance to become the first team to register their fourth IPL title. Unfortunately, only one of them will be able to do it tomorrow.

Mumbai might have played less IPL finals than Chennai but they have a better success rate than the defending champions in matches when it matters the most. Having defeated CSK on three occasions this season, Indians would also be banking on their overall record between the two teams.

That being said, MI would by no means adopt complacency ahead of the all-important clash. With CSK as the opposition, never!

What should MI do to beat CSK

Despite Indians remaining on top of Super Kings in the tournament so far, they would be looking to replicate their plus points from the season. Keeping their basics intact is most likely to come good for them against the side which has been there and done that in the final more times than them.

Make early inroads

In their previous three victories against CSK, what MI did the best was restrict their top-order. A total of 48 runs is the highest that Super Kings’ Top Three have scored in three matches. Mumbai making early inroads into Chennai’s batting lineup makes things difficult for the defending champions.

Moreover, whenever their Top Three has done well this season, they ended up winning the match on most occasions. Therefore, gaining advantage over Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson and Suresh Raina can come good for Indians tomorrow.

Dismiss MS Dhoni AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!

There is no shying away from the fact that Super Kings rely heavily on their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. With the bat in hand, the 37-year old cricketer has scored 414 runs in 14 matches at an average of 103.50 and a strike rate of 137.54 including three half-centuries.

Irrespective of batting first or second, Dhoni has it in him to create havoc against the MI attack. With him possessing of a praiseworthy IPL playoff record against MI, the opposition should be well-aware about the game-changer in Chennai’s skipper.

Negate the spin threat

A primary reason why Super Kings have done well in IPL 2019 despite their batsmen not having the best of season is their bowlers covering things up for them. With their home turf at Chepauk supporting the the spinners, the likes of Imran Tahir, Harbhajan Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner were at the helm of their game while dismissing the opposition batsmen.

The fact that Tahir, Harbhajan and Jadeja are all in the list of Top-12 highest wicket-takers in the tournament in itself discloses that the trio has dictated terms in IPL 2019. In between them, the three bowlers have dismissed as many as 55 batsmen in IPL 2019.

If Mumbai Indians’ batsmen become successful in not falling in the trap laid by Dhoni and his spinners, they should be able to post/chase a handsome total tomorrow.
