Delhi Capitals sign Sourav Ganguly as Advisor: The legendary Indian captain will be seen taking part in the IPL after seven years.
IPL franchise Delhi Capitals have signed former India captain Sourav Ganguly in the role of an advisor for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League. The franchise took to their Twitter account to make the news public in the afternoon.

After playing for Pune Warriors India in IPL 2012, Ganguly didn’t participate in the cash-rich league as a player, coach or mentor. It will be after a seven-year gap that the southpaw will contribute to a franchise this season.

The development also means that Ganguly will team up with a fierce rival of his time in former Australia captain Ricky Ponting. With the latter being the Head Coach of the franchise, the pair will work together for the second time after them sharing the dressing room for Kolkata Knight Riders.
“We want DC to imbibe Sourav Ganguly’s traits”
“Sourav Ganguly’s aggression, positivity and never-say-die attitude are traits we want the Delhi Capitals to imbibe,” Chairman of Delhi Capitals Parth Jindal was quoted as saying by their Twitter account.
Being one of the three franchises to have never won the IPL title since its inception in 2008, Capitals would be looking forward to gain as much as possible from Ganguly’s expertise. For someone who resurfaced the Indian cricket team during his times, DC would be expecting Ganguly to play a similar role for them.
That being said, there is no confirmation as of now regarding whether Ganguly will travel with the team throughout the tournament or not.

After England captain Joe Root scored his 15th Test hundred during the second Test of Engand’s tour of Sri Lanka in November last year, Ganguly took to social media platform Twitter to appreciate the right-hand batsman. With Ganguly also tagging Jindal in his tweet, it was a clear sign of a possible alliance between the franchise and him.
How Twitter reacted:
Delhi Capitals will play their first match of IPL 2019 against Mumbai Indians on March 24 at Delhi.
