IPL 2019 to be played in India

IPL 2019 to be played in India: The venue for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League has been finalized.

In a development which has come as a respite for each and every stakeholder of the Indian Premier League, the 12th season of the tournament will be played in India and will begin from March 23 this year.

If sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India are to be believed, the whole tournament will be conducted in India despite its clash with the General Elections slated to be held in the country.

The tournament will begin on March 23 with the date of the final match not disclosed as of now. Earlier, there were reports of the tournament being planned to be conducted outside of India. The latest development all but quashes all such reports.

In a press release the BCCI said that decision to conduct the tournament in India was “based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies / authorities”.

While the full schedule hasn’t been released as of now, (it) “will be finalised in consultation with the appropriate authorities”, said the BCCI statement. A “detailed discussion” between the stakeholders and the Committee of Administrators is also expected to happen.

Citing the General Elections, IPL has been twice moved out of India in the past. While the whole season was played in South Africa in 2009, the year 2014 saw it being played in both India and UAE (United Arab Emirates).
