IRE vs ZIM Dream 11 Team: Caught in a huge turmoil, waning Zimbabwe turn to the solace of international cricket when they begin their impending ODI series against Ireland today

Ireland Vs Zimbabwe First ODI Best Dream 11 Team

Currently embroiled in one of the most unsavoury and vile bits of onfield and off field issues in the cricketing fraternity, the game in Zimbabwe is on a massive spiral to the trenches. While the side are enduring one of their worst years on the international arena, being swept apart cleanly in four ODI series against South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh and ever so recently new entrants Netherlands, it’s the issues outside the game which have left the side troubled more.

With the government taking over the Zimbabwe Cricket Board after citing that financial irregularities amongst a slew of other issues were not addressed cohesively, cricket in the country faces a complete stall by ICC at the moment. As per the guidelines imbedded by the governing council, no government is allowed to interfere in the partaking matters of its cricket board, a rule that Zimbabwe have clearly violated at the moment.

Leaking money, bleeding losses, bickering among officials and no gameplan in place on how to take the sport forward, cricket in the country went onto hit another low when the women side pulled out of their series against Ireland in lieu of a shortfall of adequate funds.

“With the team due to arrive on Sunday, there is clearly no time to find an alternate,” said Cricket Ireland chief executive Warren Deutrom. “We are all desperately sorry for the players, fans, staff and volunteers who planned to be at these matches.”

Left in the lurch with nothing clicking for them on the field as well, failing to qualify for the Cricket World Cup for the first time since 1983 for subsequently being torn apart by their counterparts, the three match ODI series couldn’t have come at a better time for them. They’ll be taking on Ireland today in the first of the three matches, a series which gives Zimbabwe a massive opportunity to reclaim their name as a proper sporting country.

Elsewhere for Ireland, the stakes on this series are colossal as well. They’re a team on the up rise, one looking to establish themselves as official test playing members with strong showings against Afghanistan, Bangladesh and West Indies, showcasing the immense upcoming plethora of skilled players.

 Probable Winner

With several players coming into the team from the recently concluded, competitive one day and T20 series against Scotland A and Ireland Wolves, Ireland are on current form a much better unit than Zimbabwe. Be it in the batting or bowling department, the side is lined up with exuberant specialists, one held in reverence.

For Zimbabwe on the other hand, apart from individual showings, the team has let the down as a whole bitterly. They’ve been trounced at will, wiped the floor with and we see them suffering the same fortune today as well. Expect Ireland to pile on the runs in batting conducive conditions and concurrently bowl out a struggling Zimbabwe batting side well below the requisite runs.

Wicket-Keeper for IRE vs ZIM Dream 11

He’s impressed at times ever since his call up to the side last month and with the number of matches he’s played and the ability to come good, we are going to stick with Zimbabwe’s Brendan Taylor for this one.

Batsmen for IRE vs ZIM Dream 11

With a 50 against Afghanistan and a 100 against Bangladesh, opener Paul Stirling has for quite some time now been the mainstay of his side. He has a penchant of lofting the ball effortlessly, crafting true, well made innings and he is unanimously picked up by us.

With Zimbabwe struggling on the bowling front as well, we are going to get in William Porterfield as well. Not only does he hold fort for his side by taking the accountability but opens his arms with ease after settling into his groove and we can easily envision him going onto rake a massive score in this one.

The one pick from Zimbabwe is of their top scorer over the last year with over 1300 runs in all formats of the game, Craig Ervine. If he decides to apply himself and get stuck in the middle, his expansive strokeplay will see him amass a basketful of runs, something we just can’t ignore.

All-Rounders for IRE vs ZIM Dream 11

Such are the exuberant choices from Ireland that we just couldn’t pick out between one of them. That sees us opt from the entire trio of worldclass all-rounders from the side, players who love plying their goods with both the bat and all.

While Kevin O’Brien and Mark Adair have been mainstays of the side for some time now, Shane Getkate impressed massively for the Wolves ever so recently and we see him coming in for the series opener. Sean Williams will be the lone pick from Zimbabwe.

Bowling Order for IRE vs ZIM Dream 11

He has stifled batting units with his affinity to deal an affliction of teams and in Boyd Rankin we have Ireland’s best exponent of the new, white ball.

It’s a two man partnership from Zimbabwe on the other hand with Kyle Jarvis and Donald Tripano coming in. Although they haven’t impressed massively, the tri-nation series between West Indies, Bangladesh and Ireland showed that once under pressure, Ireland can tumble. It’s something this duo can easily do and we do see them snaring a good amount of wickets as they try and stall Ireland from piling on a big score.

Captain And Vice-Captain

Paul Stirling gets to be our captain for the first match of the series while Mark Adair is chosen as out vice-captain.
