Is MS Dhoni playing today's match vs DC

Is MS Dhoni playing today’s match vs DC: Chennai Super Kings captain had missed the last match against Mumbai Indians.

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni missed his team’s last IPL 2019 match against Mumbai Indians after succumbing to high fever. Alongside Dhoni, CSK opening batsman Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja were also rested because of being ill.

Earlier, Dhoni had missed the away fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad due to back spasm. The 37-year old cricketer missing a couple of matches hasn’t brought likely results for the defending champions as they lost both the matches against Hyderabad and Mumbai respectively.

On the eve of Chennai’s 13th match against Delhi Capitals at home, coach Stephen Fleming opened up on Dhoni’s chances of playing tonight. “Dhoni is progressing. He’s been pretty sick during the week. We’ll make a call on him tomorrow but he’s progressing, which is good,” Fleming remained unsure about whether Dhoni will take part tonight or not.

In an update which is most likely to favour Chennai is the fact that Dhoni is back for Chennai Super Kings. Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field. The visitors made three changes to their squad – including Chris Morris, Trent Boult and Jagadeesan Suchith in place of Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma and Sandeep Lamichhane.

On the other hand, the defending champions have made as many as three changes to their squad. Other than Dhoni, both du Plessis and Jadeja have returned back in place of Murali Vijay, Dhruv Shorey and Mitchell Santner.

In 10 matches which Dhoni has played this season, he has scored 314 runs at an average of 104.66 and a strike rate of 137.11 including three half-centuries.
