Diego Costa’s goal gave Spain three points as they top the Group B of the World Cup after two matches.

Spain came out on top against Iran as Diego Costa’s second half goal was enough to seal three points for the European side against Iran. The first match against Portugal ended in a highly eventful 3-3 draw, thanks to a terrific hattrick from Cristiano Ronaldo which denied Spain the win.

However, Spain are still not guaranteed a place in the round-of-16, as Portugal shares points with them. Iran, with just one point behind, is at 3rd, and will play a potential knock-out against Cristiano Ronaldo’s side.

Morocco may have not won a single game and are already eliminated of the World Cup, but their performances have been strong and they lost both the games due to silly errors which conceded the goal. Hence, there is no time to rest for Fernando Hierro’s side.

The Genuis Corner

Spain took one step closer to round-of-16, but they had a chance to double up the lead and increase their goal difference over Portugal when Isco’s ‘genius corner’ almost led to a scramble in front of the goal.

It is a real shame because the corner was really the work of genius. Isco cheekily passes the ball along the goal-line through the corner to David Silva, who neatly flicks it to Sergio Ramos who had ample space to hit. However, Spain were unable to convert the chance.

Spain’s set-piece was straight from the training grounds, and naturally, it impressed the fans.
