Ivan Rakitic to leave Barcelona

Barcelona have made up their mind to not offer a new contract to their midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

Barcelona are looking for some reshuffles before the end of the summer transfer window. The board has been looking at young players in order to strengthen the future of the club.

The Blaugrana was held with a huge tussle with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to land Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who is reportedly said to sign for the reigning Spanish champions for a fee of 90 million euros in the summer transfer window.

Jean-Clair Todibo was supposed to join Barcelona in the forthcoming window, but the club decided to lure him to Nou Camp last month when they were facing an injury crisis in the center-back department.

There were several reports quoting that Ernesto Valverde’s side has reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt’s striker Luka Jovic, but the transfer fee is yet to be settled. The club eyes him as a replacement for their prolific number 9 Luis Suarez who has been one among the main source of goals over the last five years.

With the number of midfielders piling up, Barcelona are prepared to sell their star player Ivan Rakitic should a suitable offer arrive in the summer transfer window, according to the Spanish publication Sport.

He received an offer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer but decided to stay put at Nou Camp in the hopes of signing a new deal at Barcelona. The Croatian International’s hopes has been dealt with a severe blow because the club have decided against renewing his contract.

Even though he is one of the most used midfielders under Ernesto Valverde, the manager is matured enough to think from the club’s financial point of view. The 30-year-old has never hidden his desire to stay at Barcelona, but the incomings might have affected his place.

The report also adds on that the club is not having his name to the list of new signings and contract extensions. If the club does not satisfy his desire, there is no doubt that former Schalke midfielder will be keen to listen to other offers.

The likes of Inter Milan, Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Juventus have all enquired about the possibility of a transfer. There is no doubt that Barcelona will seek a fee of no lesser than 60 million as he would have a contract until 2021.
