Jan Oblak: Atletico Madrid Goalkeeper to turn down PSG in the favour of Man Utd move

Jan Oblak is reportedly ready to turn down a move to Paris Saint Germain in the favour of Manchester United.

Jan Oblak is set to down a move to Paris Saint Germain in the favour of Manchester United. The Atletico Madrid is desiring to leave his current club because of the number of expected incomings in this transfer window.

According to the reliable ESPNFC, Atletico Madrid is ready to reject a contract from Paris Saint Germain to move to Manchester United. The shot-stopper wants a transfer to the Premier League and has set his heart on a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are not featuring in the Champions League next season, but Oblak wants a change of scenery suddenly.  The Slovenian International is on Solskjaer’s shortlist for the summer window, although the club is not confident about meeting Atletico’s demands. The release clause is 120 million euros.

Paris Saint Germain are looking for a new first-choice goalkeeper after allowing Gigi Buffon to run down his contract at Parc Des Princes. They are ready to meet Oblak’s release clause, but Atletico are not coy on selling him currently.

On the other hand, the future surrounding David De Gea have been uncertain. The Spanish International has refused to extend his contract which will force the club to take an action sooner or rather than later. Since his contract runs expires in a year, the Red Devils might be tempted by the prospect of selling him if Jan Oblak is available in the market.

The Red Devils shot-stopper has linked with a move to Juventus and Paris Saint Germain.

Earlier this year, Oblak had told that Atletico would strengthen their squad by putting pen to paper until 2023. The club have already bought Felipe and Nicolas Ibanez, but he is not entirely convinced with their quality. To make things worse, Antoine Griezmann has confirmed his departure from the club.

Manchester United declined to comment when asked by ESPN FC about interest in Oblak.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Manchester United are unlikely to spend a heavy amount on a goalkeeper this summer. Solskjaer is targetting other positions to strengthen and steer them into the top four.
