Jofra Archer gives fitting reply to Steve Smith's statement ahead of Old Trafford Test

Archer gives fitting reply to Steve Smith’s statement: Both the cricketers have started an intriguing contest off the field as well.

Apart from the riveting contest which happens on the field in an Ashes series, what it is also known for is frequent banters between cricketers, former cricketers and even fans. One such instant of an off-field banter was witnessed post the Headingley Test between legendary Australia spinner Shane Warne and former England wicket-keeper batsman.

It is these banters which really add fuel to the on-field proceedings. A fresh incident of the same has been recorded between Australia batsman Steve Smith and England fast bowler Jofra Archer.

Archer gives fitting reply to Steve Smith’s statement

It all started yesterday when Smith was speaking to the reporters on the eve of Australia’s practice match against Derbyshire in Derby. Being asked about if he will make a change to his batting technique against Archer, Smith responded in a negative manner.

Furthermore, Smith highlighted the fact that Archer is yet to get him out in the series. In response to Smith statement, Archer has said in an interview that he can’t get him out with him in the dressing room.

“Well, I can’t get him [Steve Smith] out if he wasn’t there. I did want to bowl at him when he came back out at Lord’s but he was out before I even got to come back on. But there’ll be more than ample time to get him out.

“At the end of the day I’m not saying I won’t get him out but if we don’t get him out there are 10 other people we can get out and if he’s stranded on 40 that’s not helping his team too much to be honest. We all know he’s a world-class batter and has the right temperament for Test cricket but he can’t do it all himself,” Archer was quoted as saying by Daily Mail.
