Jos Buttler run-out vs Australia: Watch Buttler becomes victim of massive miscommunication with Ben Stokes at Headingley
Jos Buttler run-out vs Australia: The English middle-order batsman was dismissed cheaply in the second innings of the third Test.
During the fourth day of the third Test of the ongoing 2019 Ashes series between England and Australia at Headingley, England middle-order batsman Jos Buttler was found way short of the crease at the non-striker’s end by Australia co vice-captain Travis Head.
It all happened on the second delivery of the 103rd over when a massive miscommunication was witnessed between the two players. Having hit a Nathan Lyon delivery to mid-wicket, Stokes initially called for a single before refusing the same.
Responding well to his partner’s call, Buttler was halfway down the track when he was sent back. With Head’s under-arm throw hitting the stumps directly, Buttler was way outside the crease. Coming in to bat at No. 7 in the 100th over, Buttler ended up scoring 1 (9).
While England were in the game when they resumed proceedings at 156/3 in the first session, them losing wickets in a hurry brought back Australia in the driver’s seat. What hurt the hosts the most was their captain Joe Root getting brilliantly caught by David Warner at first slip.
With Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood dismissing England all-rounder Chris Woakes (1) soon enough, the home team now needs 98 runs to win with three wickets in hand.
