Jurgen Klopp: Former Man Utd Star Wayne Rooney reveals Jurgen Klopp's only mistake

Wayne Rooney says that Jurgen Klopp’s only mistake is to work with Liverpool.

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has revealed his admiration for Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp, calling the German an ‘amazing guy’, despite managing his arch-rival club.

Jurgen Klopp was part of the unimaginable success at Borussia Dortmund, aiding them to back-to-back Bundesliga titles and DFB-Pokal. He also managed to take them to final of the Champions League before agonizingly losing to Bayern Munich at Wembley in 2013.

The 52-year-old has been in a slow process since he has taken over Liverpool in 2015. Under his guidance, the Reds reached the final of Europa League in 2016 and Champions League in 2018, before clinching the Champions League a year later beating Tottenham Hotspur.

Although the reigning Champions League holders fell short of the Premier League triumph, Klopp’s side managed to muster 97 points throughout the season, thereby becoming the third side in the history of the competition to break that point tally.

Despite coming through the roots of Everton and Manchester United, Wayne Rooney breaks silence about his admiration for the Liverpool boss.

Rooney told SportBild: “Jurgen is a manager every player would love playing for. You can see how much fun his players have playing under him. I met him once, he is an amazing guy,”

“His only mistake is that he works for LFC and is successful there.

“I have much respect for Jurgen Klopp and for what he already has achieved. Not only in Liverpool, but also in Dortmund. This guy really has it. And he has his best years still upon him.”

The Red Devils record goalscorer was part of the side which went on to win five Premier League titles and a Champions League title, before moving to his boyhood club Everton.

Six months later, Wayne Rooney traveled across the sea to ply his trade with DC United. This season, Rooney has scored 11 goals in 19 appearances for the club, as D.C. currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference.
