Barca in shock as La Masia talent set to leave for Real Madrid
Edur Gudjohnsen’s son Daniel will leave the club and move to Real Madrid.
Catalan newspaper Sport are reporting a “bombshell” move of Barca starlet Daniel Gudjohnsen to El Clasico rivals Real Madrid. Sport calls the move “a real bombshell in the world of grassroots football.”
The reason for such amplification of the move is due to the fact that Barcelona and Real Madrid signed a pact which signifies that both the clubs cannot sign each other’s youth players.
However, Sport also reports that Edur Gudjohnsen’s elder son, Andry Gudjohnsen, signed for Real Madrid from Espanyol recently. During the move, he reportedly had various meetings with Barcelona, but eventually turned them down. And so, Daniel’s move to Real Madrid was more of a domino effect.
The most logical solution, Sport reports, was Andry to join his younger brother at Barcelona. However, the move didn’t work as the negotiations between the player and the club didn’t reach “satisfactory conclusion”.
Sport claims that Eidur Gudjohnsen’s “wants to keep the family together”, and hence Daniel signed with Real Madrid’s youth team.
Daniel enjoyed a fantastic season with the Barcelona’s Alevin B side and his progress has been remarkable.
Barcelona, on the other hand, were reportedly set to promote Daniel to U14 team, as the youngster impressed the club with his U12 performances.
