Jurgen Klopp hilariously impersonates ‘Rocky Balboa’ following Adrian’s heroics in the UEFA Super Cup match against Chelsea.
What a night in Istanbul! Liverpool beat Chelsea by the narrowest of margins to take home the UEFA Super Cup. There were many who played their part in the epic clash. However, the match was ultimately decided by the penalty that new recruit Adrian saved.
Adrian, who previously played for West Ham, was bought in for a free after his contract ran out with the Hammers. He was originally signed as a replacement for Simon Mignolet who had left the Reds in search for game time. However, his services were needed earlier than anyone would have imagined.
First choice keeper Alison Becker suffered a calf injury in the game against Norwich City. This meant that Adrian was handed his debut unexpectedly. There were a lot of nervous moments and it was evident that he had not come prepared. However, the game against was a whole different story.

In a match dominated by the attack prowess of both sides, the keepers on either end came out shining; with Adrian sparkling a little more than Kepa. Keeping his cool, Adrian saved a Tammy Abraham Spot kick in the shootout. That save ultimately decided the victor in their UEFA Super Cup Showdown.
His performance was not lost on Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp. The German was all praise for the keeper and his ability to keep his nerves together between the sticks.
“What a story! Adriannn!!! Like Rocky.” Klopp screamed when asked about Adrian’s showing.

Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky famously called out to his wife, Adrian, after his fight with Apollo Creed in the 1976 classic.
“He’s loud in the dressing room already. I don’t think he’s won a lot in his life so it’s good for him to win it.” He added.
“He made some unbelievable saves, both keepers did, so I’m really happy for him.”
