JUST IN: ESPNCricinfo announce the retained list of players for each franchise
The IPL Player retention event is scheduled to be telecast on Star Sports at 7 pm tonight, with the deadline for submitting the retentions being 5 pm.
ESPNCricinfo has already announced the list of players retained by every franchise(according to their sources).
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Sarfaraz Khan (uncapped)
Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah/Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya
Delhi Daredevils: Shreyas Iyer, Chris Morris, Rishabh Pant
Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell
Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Rajasthan Royals: Steven Smith
Kings XI Punjab: Axar Patel
After the IPL Player retention, the different franchises will now sit down to formulate a strategy with respect to IPL auction, which is scheduled to take place on the 27th and 28th of January in Bengaluru.
Teams will now also know the number of RTM’s available to all franchises, as only a total of 5 players can be retained by a franchise(a combination of the list submitted today and the use of RTM cards).
Also, only a maximum of 3 players can belong to either category(Retained player list and RTM cards). Thus, if a franchise has opted for 3 Retentions, it can only use 2 RTM cards in an auction.
And if a franchise has opted for 2 or less players in the retained list, they can opt for a maximum of 3 RTM cards in the auction.
