Jwala Gutta has been enjoying her sabbatical from the World Badminton Tour, mentoring young Indian doubles players and working hard to put India on the global doubles map, something that she feels isn’t valued much in the Indian Badminton ecosystem.

Ever since she has made a name for herself in the world badminton circuit, Gutta has been subject to a lot of scrutiny on social media, being forced to deal with body shaming and distasteful comments about her appearance on court.

Gutta has always made it a point to respond to her ‘critics’, who sometimes tend to  breach every conduct of decency. And that is exactly what she did this time round as well.

A Twitter user tried to hurl distasteful comments towards Gutta’s mother yesterday, labelling her as ‘Anti-Modi’

“Is it bcoz ur mother is from China thats y u oppose MODI everytime ?”. said the Twitter user

Jwala Gutta’s mother, Yelan, hails from Tianjin, China.

The Twitter user tried to somehow bring a political angle into his tweet, correlating Yelan’s Chinese descent with her remarks against Modi. But Gutta was quick to respond, showing her disgust at the tweet.

But the twitter user refused to back away, going on, unrelentingly about Yelan’s ‘Anti-Modi’ stance.

“Firstly I’ve lost all respect for u!! So I don’t think u will get any answer from me!! Secondly if u had any question..ask straight!!” Jwala replied back.

The user’s rant went on, as he tried to justify himself but ended up further infuriating Jwala Gutta who threatened to block the user for his racist(and maybe anti-national) comments.
