Harsha Bhogle is one of the best and most popular cricketing commentators in the world today. (Key takeaways from Harsha Bhogle’s Facebook Live Q&A session)There are not many people who can match his knowledge of the game while very few can inject humor into the proceedings as he has famously done for years.

News broke out yesterday that he was controversially excluded from the commentary team for the second successive IPL which has enraged his large legion of fans all over the world.

In a Facebook Live Q&A session, Harsha answered a wide range of questions from the fans in regards to the IPL.

Here are the key takeaways from the Q&A session !

Harsha might still be a part of the IPL

While he did not expect to be a part of the commentary team in this year’s edition of the IPL, Harsha Bhogle believes that he might still be a part of the IPL.

He seemed confident that he will have some part to play in the IPL as the head of Sony Television wants him to be a part of the cricketing extravaganza.

While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, Bhogle did say that he will keep everyone informed whenever a confirmation comes.

If this is indeed true then cricketing fans from all over the world will rejoice at the prospect of hearing Harsha Bhogle again.

Suresh Raina should play with freedom

Suresh Raina has become an enigma for Indian cricket as he now enters a very tricky period of his cricketing career.

He is no longer considered a mainstay of the Indian team and has fallen way down the pecking order. A lot of people have said a lot of unflattering things about Raina recently and that might force Raina to enter the IPL with a ‘me against the world’ mentality.

But that is also the worst thing that he could do as Raina is too good a cricketer to be fazed by what other people think or say about him. He may not be in the national team but he continues to be a superstar in the IPL and he must not forget that.

Chris Lynn is a player to watch out for

Chris Lynn is very highly rated in the Australian cricketing circles and this might be the year when he shows us why. (Key takeaways from Harsha Bhogle’s Facebook Live Q&A session)

He had lit up the Big Bash tournament and has continued his form in the domestic season. One of the reasons why he hasn’t truly exploded in the IPL yet is because of the nature of the pitches in India.

But the Eden Gardens is no longer the slow track that it once was as it now has far more pace and bounce that it did in the past.

And if this is true then Chris Lynn becomes a major player for the KKR and is one to definitely watch out for this season.

Steve Smith needs to balance the power play in the RPSG dressing room

For the first time in the history of the IPL, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is no longer the captain of a side. But he still remains a vital player to the RPSG and Steve Smith will surely realize that he needs to get Dhoni on his side.

Smith is coming out of a long and exhausting series against India in which he had a supreme series with the bat. He now enters the IPL as the main man of a franchise that needs to banish its memories from the previous season.

Dhoni is a legend and is revered by everyone in India which is why Smith needs to ensure that there is power play between the two of them.

He will be in major trouble if it does ! (Key takeaways from Harsha Bhogle’s Facebook Live Q&A session)

A huge IPL for Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant is arguably the most exciting young talent in India today as many people consider him the next wicket keeper batsman of the country.

Pant will be looking to play a major role for Delhi as he would be getting a lot opportunities from his franchise.

Another challenge for Pant will be the presence of Sanju Samson in the Delhi team. Samson will also be looking at earning back his spot as the keeper batsman and should push Pant to greater heights.

Darren Sammy will be the dark horse

There has to be a reason why the teams in which Darren Sammy play for eventually end up winning cricket matches.

Sammy will provide a solid 2-3 overs with the ball every match and is electric in the field. He is also one of the best ’20 balls’ batsman in the world and is sure to finish a couple of matches for his side.

Not many people are talking about the Kings XI Punjab side which should suit them just fine as they have match winners such as Sammy in their side who can turn the match in a hurry.

Mumbai Indians are looking strong

RCB were the big favorites heading into the tournament but injuries to Kohli and De Villiers have tossed all those plans away.

Mumbai Indians have retained a strong group of players who have played together and won titles with each other for many years.

The likes of Pollard, Malinga, Harbhajan and Rayudu are still there with Rohit Sharma leading the side. They also bought back Mitchell Johnson to strengthen their pace bowling.

And crucially for the MI, everyone is fit and raring to go !
