The last eighteen months have been a fantastic journey for KL Rahul in the national team. The talented right hander has grown in stature over this period, with Ravi Shastri calling him the most improved player in the squad.

The Karnataka batman’s graceful stroke play was a feature ever since he first came broke onto the international scene against Australia. He scored his maiden test century on his first tour to Australia, as Rahul quickly became one to look out for in the future.

Since then, Rahul has improved every facet of his game, particularly in the limited overs format. Rahul currently holds the 4th position in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batsman, only second to skipper Virat Kohli.

It is unfortunate that Rahul is not getting as many games as his performances warrant, as he is finding it difficult to dislodge the very successful opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan.

The national team selectors need to ensure that Rahul does not get wasted away as a back up opener for the next few years, as he is a player that should be a mainstay in this strong Indian line up for years to come.

In a recent interview, Rahul opened up on a lot of topics, including his best friend in the team and his Bollywood crush.
